    ETHICS PANEL


    Candidates are being sought to serve on the Ethics Panel for the Baltimore City Public School System
    ("Baltimore City Schools"), which was established as the result of the passage of the BCA: Code of Ethics Policy by the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners ("School Board"). The Ethics Panel consists of five members appointed by the Board Chair.



    Essential Functions
    • The Ethics Panel is an advisory board that interprets the Baltimore City Public Schools
      Code of Ethics("Code") policy. The Ethics Panel issues advisory opinions to staff that need
      guidance on application of the Code and complaints alleging violations of the Code. The
      Panel share their opinions with the Board and CEO on an ongoing basis.
    • The Ethics Panel reviews the annual filing of Financial Disclosure Statements from the
      Board and designated employees for any potential conflicts with the Code.
    • The Ethics Panel oversees training for District staff on conflicts of interests and filing of
      Financial Disclosure Statements.
    • The Ethics Panel meets once a month. (3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm)


    Desired Qualifications

    Qualifications of eligible candidates:

    ? Must be at least 18 years of age.
    ? Must be an individual of known personal integrity.
    ? Must possess a recognized knowledge and interest in government and civics.
    ? Must be willing to volunteer their services.
    ? It is preferred that members of the Ethics Panel be residents of or employed by an agency located in
    the City of Baltimore and that they maintain residency and employment for the duration of their
    appointment.
    ? Must not be employed by Baltimore City Public Schools or an employee of an entity that does business
    with or is under authority of the School Board.
    ? Legal or Business background preferred but not required.
