The Financial Analyst monitors the insurer's statutory compliance and solvency, reports findings and recommends appropriate actions and preserves confidential nature of records, data, and information accessed as part of this position's responsibilities.
Experience:
MS Office (Especially Excel), Tableau
Proficient technical writing skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
Background knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Responsibilities/Duties:
Accessing data from sources such as rating agencies, NAIC database, LEXIS/NEXIS, and other related sources, will review and interpret the financial and other related documents filed to effectively conduct an independent and in-depth analysis of an insurer's accounts and records to determine the insurer's present and future financial performance.
Review and verify company filings for compliance and coordinate with senior analysis on deficient filings.
Complete early warning checklist to identify potential financial and operational issues and concerns.
Research and inquire into issues impacting an insurer's operations and/or financial position. Discusses findings critical in nature with team leader or Department manager.
Calculate and verify financial ratios and prepares related correspondence (if necessary), schedules, tables, charts, and graphs.
Prepare clear, comprehensive, accurate and concise confidential annual and updated security summary reports.
This includes making a confidential recommendation concerning the suitability of the insurer to operate in California and supporting the conclusions reached.
Update required data accurately into SLA database.Respond to phone or written inquiries professionally and in a timely manner.
Acquire necessary professional and technical knowledge related to job duties (by attending job related education programs and trainings, as well as keeping current with trade publications and journals).
Assist with special projects as directed by manager.Education:
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Management, Accounting, or Finance
