    QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
    Master's Degree in Social Work or closely aligned field of study
    1. Appropriate, Valid Licensure through the Illinois State Board of Education
    2. Strong communication and collaboration with families and schools
    3. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
    4. Such alternatives as the building Principal finds appropriate
    REPORTS TO/EVALUATED BY: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, & Human Resources, Director of Special Education, Building Principal

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Social Worker's primary responsibility is to provide support to Title I students and families to ensure a quality education.

    Under the direction/supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, & Human Resources, Director of Special Education, and Building Principals, the Title One Social Worker will:

    Student Specific

    Provide crisis intervention.
    • Develop intervention strategies to increase academic success.
    • Assist with conflict resolution and anger management.
    • Help the child develop appropriate social interaction skills.
    • Assist the child in understanding and accepting self and others.
    • Assist with Title I data collection and record keeping.
    Family Specific

    Work with parents to facilitate their support in their children's school adjustment.
    • Alleviate family stress to enable the child to function more effectively in school & community.
    • Assist parents to access programs available to students with special needs, when necessary.
    • Assist parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.
    • Assist with the planning and coordination of Title I Family Events.
    Services to School Personnel
    • Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors affecting a student's performance and behavior.
    • Assess students with mental health concerns.
    • Develop staff in-service training programs.
    • Assist teachers with behavior management.
    • Provide direct support to staff.

    • Other assignments as requested.
