• Learn all aspects for the pharmacy's line of business through hands on experience

• Learn the prior authorization review criteria and process

• Learn various clinical services that pharmacy benefit management provide to clients

• Learn the concept of formulary and network design and its application

• Convey knowledge of health plan and commercial pharmacy benefit operations

• Convey knowledge of clinical savings capabilities and opportunities in applied markets

This role will allow you to work remotely for Summer 2023.

Position Purpose: Participate all aspects of clinical pharmacy programs to gain educational, operational, and research services. Participate in various projects while developing skills related to the managed care market. This internship is designed for current P1 or P2 students (will be a P2 and P3 academic year The objective of the internship is to gain an understanding of the process of applying clinical and operational concepts in a managed care setting. This internship will provide the ability to work with an internal interdisciplinary teams as well as working with external stakeholders.

Duties:

• Help manage utilization management of pharmacy benefit (Prior Authorization, Quantity Limits, etc)
• Assist with Medical Benefit Prior Authorization Reviews (input of PA requests)
• Assist with provider education of Medicaid formulary where applicable.
• Review and trend pharmacy benefit claims data
• Actively assist with any pharmacy reporting
• Assist with Pharmacy Lock-in reviews

Education/Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited Pharm. D program with and ability to participate in an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotation. Student applicants must be in good academic standing in their respective institutions.
