    Description


    Job DescriptionSpecimen Processor IIAs required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen, lawful resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or other territory owning permanent allegiance to the United States.

    Manage the intake of DNA specimens, conducting inspections, sorting, and weighing to ensure general integrity. Prepare reference specimens for processing, sorting by origin code and collection date.

    Process a minimum of 400 specimens daily, conducting inventories and entering data into the Repository Specimen Management System for comparison with the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System.

    Uphold privacy regulations, vacuum and heat-seal repository pouches, and adhere to a schedule to prevent backlogs. Lead or direct the work of others and generate necessary documents and reports.

    Specimen Processor II Responsibilities Include:
    Manage the intake of DNA specimens, conducting inspections, sorting, and weighing to ensure general integrity. Prepare reference specimens for processing, sorting them based on origin code and collection date. Process a minimum of 400 specimens daily, meeting established productivity standards. Conduct inventories of specimens and enter relevant data into the Repository Specimen Management System. Compare specimen data with the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System for accuracy and completeness. Uphold privacy regulations and guidelines at all times during the handling of specimens and associated information. Ensure proper vacuuming and heat-sealing of repository pouches before storage, adhering to a schedule to prevent backlogs. Lead or direct the work of others, providing guidance and supervision as needed. Generate necessary documents and reports related to specimen processing and management. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Specimen Processor II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
    High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or certification in a relevant field, such as medical laboratory technology, may be preferred. 2-5 years of experience in specimen processing or a related field, demonstrating increased responsibilities. Proficient in laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and the use of relevant equipment. Experience in accurate and efficient data entry into specimen management systems. Ability to provide guidance and supervision, especially if responsible for leading or directing the work of others. Familiarity with quality control measures and adherence to privacy regulations. Strong organizational skills to manage daily processing quotas, inventories, and schedules. Exceptional attention to detail for precise specimen sorting, weighing, and documentation. Ability to troubleshoot issues related to specimen handling and processing. Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and reporting. Experience in conducting inventories and maintaining accurate records. Knowledge of and adherence to privacy regulations, especially in handling sensitive information. Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, if applicable. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Strong collaborative skills for effective team performance. Proficient in using computer systems, including specimen management software and Microsoft Office applications. Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
