    Description

    Responsibilities:

    Position is responsible for all aspects of building mechanical, electrical & plumbing operations and including mission critical equipment and disaster recovery initiatives. The Chief Engineer (1st Grade Engineer) will successfully train and supervise all engineering/maintenance staff as well as formulate/implement practical and cost-effective problem-solving solutions to challenging mechanical problems. Maximizing on-going overall utility efficiencies is a priority. Consistent, accurate and timely communication to the Facilities Manager is a high expectation along with being able successfully task & manage ever-changing needs/urgencies. High level of customer service is a priority. Chief Engineer (1st Grade Engineer) will serve as the alternate lead point of contact (operational building emergencies & disaster recovery) in the event the Facilities Manager is unavailable.

    Salary Range: $70,200 - $86,736 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

    Qualifications

    Education

    Required: Two-year degree from a college, university or trade school equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to overall building mechanical operating systems in a central plant. Military experience with large central plant operations - Large HVAC Chillers & Boiler Systems is applicable in lieu of a degree may be considered.

    Preferred: IFMA, ASHE, SMIT Certification

    Experience

    Required: Minimum 5+ years' experience in a similar environment as a Supervisor managing 2-3 building engineering shifts

    Preferred: Experience in Healthcare Medical Office Buildings and all aspects of Central Plant engineering operations (Chillers/Boilers) including base building mechanical systems is required. Solid working knowledge of interior commercial construction and ability to effectively read/understand blue prints is required

    License(s)

    Required: 1st Grade Stationary Engineer Boiler License

    Preferred: EPA approved Refrigeration Recovery License

    COH Apprentice Maintenance Electrician

    Special Skills

    Required

    Knowledgeable on State, Local and Federal building codes and ordinances

    Proven experience, track record and ability to maintain/train on multiple Building Automated Systems (BAS) and all Central Plant mechanical equipment-Centrifugal Chiller, Boilers, Roof Top Units, Split Systems, Cooling Towers, Other refrigerant cooling systems, Sump Pumps, Medical Gas, Cooling Towers, Back Flow Preventers, (All Central Plant mechanical equipment), Life Safety, Generators Systems & Mission Critical Operating Systems

    CMMS work order & preventative Maintenance system

    Oversee and manage assigned maintenance contracts and specific operating expenses. Inventory/Asset Management (building mechanical equipment & engineering tools)

    Computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office Suite (all)

    Read and interpret blue prints

    Preferred

    Proven problem-solving skillset with Mission Critical Operating Systems

    Hands on expertise in all aspects of building mechanical & mission critical operations

    Strong focus on positive customer service and overall individual & team accountability

    City of Houston Life Safety & Health Compliance Regulations

    Ambulatory Surgery Center and Infusion Oncology mechanical systems

    Working operational knowledge of Med Gas & Certification requirements

    Backflow preventer permitting procedures

    City of Houston permitting requirements

    Building Automated Systems (BAS) Siemens & JACE required. Trane & JCI (optional)

    MS Office- Intermediate- Office Suite

    PDF Read/Write

    Calculate/ provide sub meter monthly bill backs. Due diligence of specific contract services as directed by the Facilities Manager

    AutoCAD Lite general skillset

    Review/organize and maintain building drawings and construction project files consistent with company standards.

    Other

    Required: Excellent communication, organizational and direct supervisory skillset. Position interfaces with all levels of corporate management team

    Preferred: Construction project management experience (renovations large & small)
