GAI is seeking an Engineer 1 (transmission line) to join our Power Delivery team. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, team focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems. The Transmission Line Engineer 1 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI's Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.
Competency
- Knowledge of project management skills and uses of intermediate practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy. May serve as PM Coach to Task Managers and other PMs.
- Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:
- Preparation of Specification Packages
- Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings
- Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower
- Design and Analysis of foundations.
- Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications.
- Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
- Coordination and development of permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings.
- Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
- Must demonstrate attention to detail.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
- Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.
- Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed.
- Coordinates and develops proposed scope, schedule, and fee for projects managed.
- Assist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer reviews and training of engineers and designers in quality control processes.

Minimum Years of Experience
- 4+ Years of Experience
Education
- B.S. or M.S. Engineering
Certification/Licensure
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
Technical Responsibilities
- Occasionally designs portions of a project, system, component, or process.
- Prepares plans, specifications, and other project documents.
- Designs and conducts analyses and interprets test data.
Project and Task Management
- Occasionally assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff.
- Occasionally plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
- Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects.
Management Responsibility
- Receives general direction on key objectives. Receives guidance on unconventional/complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
- Mentors junior staff by providing guidance, explaining professional responsibilities, and reviewing work products.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
Communication Skills
- Communicates effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
