    Healthcare Recruiters International is in search of a Senior Director of Research and Development to join a fast-growing medical device company located in Silicon Valley, California. This position is vital, reporting directly to the CEO, as they work towards obtaining FDA clearance to market their products in the U.S. This company is well-funded by venture capitalists and has received multiple government grants, demonstrating confidence in both the medical necessity and market potential of their device.


    Location: On-site in Alameda County with a possible long-term hybrid option (no relocation assistance provided).


    Compensation: Approx. $200,000 annually with outstanding benefits.


    Key Qualifications

    • Passion: Enthusiasm to contribute to a start-up focused on enhancing patient care.
    • Leadership Skills: Experience in leading teams, coaching, and mentoring both direct reports and external partners.
    • Analytical Thinking: Capable of strategic planning and implementation with an analytical mindset.
    • Effective Communication: Skilled in communicating with various stakeholders such as senior management, legal team, regulatory bodies, and team members.
    • Expertise: Proficient in FDA regulations, optics, optical engineering, medical device development, and research.
    • Budget Management: Experienced in developing and managing budgets effectively.


    Required Qualifications

    • BS in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, preferably with a Master's or PhD.
    • 6-12+ years of experience in developing medical devices.
    • Previous involvement in patent writing and formulation.
    • Experience in compiling and drafting grant proposals.
    • Outstanding communication and relationship-building capabilities.
    • Prior start-up experience is essential.
