    Position Overview:


    The primary responsibility of the Database Administrator III is to provide expert data base support knowledge and experience to ensure the availability, reliability, integrity, and efficient operation of the database systems that support the enterprise application functions.

    This is achieved by designing, implementing, monitoring, supporting and optimizing the organization database servers, applications and processes. Database support may extend from design and implementation, to testing and troubleshooting problems, to periodic maintenance.

    The Database Administrator III will apply experience, technical expertise and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the availability and performance of database system investments.

    All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort's policies, practices, and procedures.


    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
    Manage a queue of work requests to meet service levels and KPI objectives.

    Assess and determine governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organization.

    Troubleshoot, identify and repair complex database issues for connectivity, data integrity, performance and reliability and service end-user requests while working within internal ticketing/trouble reporting systems

    Develop and promote data management methodologies and standards


    Conduct research on database platform and related products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the database platform industry.

    Establish and implement policies, procedures and technologies to ensure security and integrity of the enterprise database environment.

    Review technical requirements, establish project milestones and tasks and determine level of effort estimates for their completion.

    Develop and oversee rules, procedures, and standards for the access and maintenance of shared data resources

    Create strategies and plans for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving.

    Prepare and maintain documentation of database design, security and access standards, configurations, procedures and troubleshooting methods

    Perform all work in a manner to ensure interoperability and maintain compliance of enterprise application and database systems.

    Monitor and test system performance, capacity and prepare and deliver database performance statistics and reports.


    Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

    Reorganize database structures as needed:
    Automate procedures at regular intervals; use tools to reorganize or de-fragment database table spaces, tables, and indexes; and provide an efficient database environment to maximize productivity and improve performance

    Conduct data capacity planning, life cycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels

    Develop and perform database security audits, configuration reviews, backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the organization's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies

    Respond to emergency situations in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans, assisting other departments as required


    Effective collaboration skills to work with systems, storage, network, telephony and other technical staff to ensure reliable integration of systems and software for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

    Understand and abide by Incident, Problem and Change management processes and procedures.

    Interact with vendors, peers, and contractors to ensure secure, reliable database implementations and upgrades are performed within project parameters.
