    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Responsible for accounting for the agency's Housing Portfolio. Works in coordination with the CFO and Controller on monthly report preparation. This is an exempt, full-time position and eligible for a Hybrid (office-home) work schedule.


    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
    Maintains general ledger in accordance with GAAP, federal cost principles, and fiscal policies and procedures ensuring accurate account coding.

    Ensures correct accounting for Housing entities managed by third-party partners or managed by Transition Projects. Assists the program office with providing accurate fiscal analysis of all housing operations.

    Provides regular support for the Controller with the monthly closing procedures.

    Supports the monthly billing process for all agency funders.

    Assists in preparation of annual agency budget.

    Supports annual fiscal audit preparation by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.

    Coordinates with the Controller on monthly financial statement preparation, bank transactions and reconciliations.

    Provides backup to CFO/Controller as needed.

    Other fiscal duties as assigned.


    PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

    Each Transition Projects employee must:
    Acquire First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire and be retested biannually thereafter throughout employment.

    Complete Bloodborne Pathogens and Narcan Training within 30 days of hire and be retested annually thereafter throughout employment.


    Demonstrate reliability by being present for work as scheduled, arriving and leaving on time and taking breaks in expected time frames.


    Interact effectively with persons of diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.

    Attend agency and program staff meetings.

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants and staff.

    Hearing adequate for telephone work. Vision adequate for close work.

    Hand and finger dexterity adequate to operate standard office equipment.

    Position includes significant time sitting at a desk completing paperwork and working on a computer.


    MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS


    The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others and a desire to work in an organization that serves people who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.

    Bachelor's degree in accounting (or similar) with a minimum of 5 years' experience, preferably in a Non-Profit environment.

    Proficiency in MAS90/Sage 100 accounting software, as well as in the use of MS Office (including Excel).

    Working knowledge of GAAP, accounting functions and related internal control.

    Effective written and verbal communication skills.

    Demonstrated flexible and efficient time management skills and ability to prioritize workload.

    Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail and the ability to work under stringent deadlines.

    Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
