    ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:
    Rotating forty (40) hour work week, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., seven (7) days a week. May be scheduled to work additional hours as required.

    Responsibilities

    Utility Technician II

    Grade: 107


    Salary:
    $882 - $1,446 Biweekly (Dependent on Qualifications)


    Operate and maintain equipment; Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; Collect samples for laboratory analysis; Analyze and monitor potable water production and treatment, wastewater treatment systems processes; Perform basic process control measurements and basic water quality analysis under supervision; Perform emergency chemical release responses, containment, and evacuation procedures; Perform remote (SCADA) filer backwashes; Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Utility Technician III

    Grade: 110


    Salary:
    $1,021 - $1,674 Biweekly (Dependent on Qualifications)

    Perform preventive maintenance on engines, generators, pumps, settling tanks, filters, and other equipment; Train staff; Perform basic to intermediate process control measurements and


    testing; Demonstrate basic knowledge of plant flow and treatment process; Perform process lab analysis and record data; Maintain accurate inventory of all treatment chemicals; Monitor distribution system pressures remotely; Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Utility Technician IV

    Grade: 113


    Salary:
    $1,182 - $1,938 Biweekly (Dependent on Qualifications)


    Perform intermediate to advanced level process control measurements and testing; Assist in identifying maintenance requirements, developing preventive maintenance strategies and performing root cause analysis of equipment failures; Prepare purchasing and minor construction contracts in direct support of maintenance and operations; Exercise expert application of TCEQ regulations; Assume command of control room in the absence of the lead operator; Direct the activation of remotely operated processes; Review water analysis results; Serve as technical subject matter expert for SCADA, I&E, and Maintenance teams; Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Utility Technician V

    Grade: 116


    Salary:
    $1,369 - $2,243 Biweekly (Dependent on Qualifications)


    Identify and resolve operating issues at facility; Prioritize staffing needs; Conduct regular tours of the facility; Understand processes and records management; Oversee the sampling for laboratory analysis; Participate in budget development; Review job performance of staff; Perform advanced level process control measurements and testing; Understand and apply principles and practices of water treatment processes; Act as shift leader; Determine coagulate dosage based on test results; Ensure compliance with TCEQ regulations; Review and enter data used for completing reports; Order chemicals; Set/correct/adjust chemical dosages; Determine water treatment rates; Produce reports; Interpret process laboratory analysis results; Make process control decisions; Perform internal compliance audits; Serve as technical review for treatment related SOP's; Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Utility Technician II

    High School Diploma or GED and less than one year of experience. A valid driver's license is required at time of application and hire.

    Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

    Must obtain a Class D Wastewater license within 1 year of hire. Must obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire

    Utility Technician III

    High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience. A valid driver's license is required at time of application and hire.

    Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

    Must obtain a Class C Wastewater license within 6 months of hire. Must be able to obtain a Class B CDL driver's license within 6 months of hire

    Utility Technician IV

    High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience. A valid driver's license is required at time of application and hire.

    Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

    Must obtain a Class B Wastewater license within 6 months of hire. Applicants with a Class B Wastewater license preferred. Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL driver's license within 6 months of hire. Applicants with a Class A CDL preferred.

    Utility Technician V

    High school Diploma or GED and five (5) years of related experience. A valid driver's license is required at time of application and hire.

    Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

    Must obtain a Class A Wastewater Treatment license within 6 months of hire. Applicants with a Class A Wastewater Treatment license preferred.

    Basis of Rating

    Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

    Closing Statement

    Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.


    Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
