Description
Our juvenile probation supervisor is one of two individuals responsible for supervising and evaluating court officers, reviewing and assigning work tasks, and ensuring compliance with Court practices, evidence-based procedures, and department policies.
Additional responsibilities involve supporting the direction, administration, and coordination of all office operations, mentoring staff, demonstrating evidence-based probation practices, offering skill development to probation officers, overseeing case planning, developing and reviewing case supervision plans and checklists, conducting case meetings, providing direct observation and feedback, demonstrating motivational interviewing techniques, offering courtroom testimony, handling conflict through mediation and negotiation skills to facilitate resolution, contributing to both short- and long-term strategic objectives of the department by researching, planning, and launching special projects and new programs, promoting effective communication, preparing reports, correspondence, data analysis, records/documentation, maintaining strict confidentiality, and attending meetings.
Requirements
Qualified candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, social work, or a related field OR a bachelor's degree along with at least 18 credits in the social sciences OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree is preferred. Candidates must also have Act 33, Act 42, and Act 114 clearances, as well as a minimum of three years of experience in juvenile justice and a solid understanding of courts, corrections, and/or law enforcement, county, state, and federal government, and hold a valid Pennsylvania driver's license without any infractions that would hinder employment.
Benefits
The competitive benefits package commences on the first day of the month following employment and includes 90% employer-paid PPO healthcare with vision and prescription components, a pension plan, the public employer's equivalent of a 401(k), term life insurance, short-term disability, a selection of voluntary benefits encompassing dental and Aflac, 14 annual holidays, and other time-off benefits.
