    Executive Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs

    Personal Care Products Council

    Position Overview:

    Reporting directly to the President and CEO and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, provide strategy and hands-on tactical execution of communications and public policy goals. Work with engaged member companies, collaborate with talented and committed staff, and tackle a broad role with a lasting impact on the future of a vibrant and ever-evolving industry.

    What you'll do:

    • Drive PCPC's communications and public affairs strategy and vision including message development and thought leadership.
    • Manage association-wide communications including media relations, social and digital media, and member communications.
    • Foster relationships across the organization and with stakeholders including the CEO, leadership team, and member company senior executives.
    • Manage the communications team which provides media support and external collaboration and messaging.
    • Oversee programs and the department budget.
    • Act as PCPC's primary media contact and external spokesperson on issues important to the industry.
    • Craft communication and public affairs strategies on a diverse range of issues.
    • Manage rapid responses to late-breaking news, events, issues, and crises as they arise.
    • Spearhead efforts to showcase the industry's innovative products and creative work through media outreach, social media engagement, partnerships, and advocacy events.
    • Elevate PCPC as a thought leader to policymakers, the media, and key stakeholders.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with reporters and influencers in traditional and new media outlets for story placement to ensure that PCPC's voice is heard in any news impacting the industry.
    • Build and maintain relationships with third-party organizations to garner consensus and generate allies for issues important to our industry.
    • Work with PCPC departments to develop talking points, positions, and press materials.
    • Participate in committee calls to understand issues on a granular level.
    • Work with PCPC leaders and staff to identify communication opportunities and solutions which reach appropriate audiences, media outlets, government officials, and industry partners.
    • Write and edit press materials, ad copy, byline articles, speeches, and talking points for the President and CEO and ensure consistent branding, style, and voice.
    • Develop metrics to evaluate program success, reach, and impact.

    What you'll Need to Succeed:

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, PR, political science, or related field.
    • 10+ years' experience managing strategic communications and campaigns, preferably in a trade association and PR firm.
    • 5+ years of people management and leadership experience.
    • Demonstrated track record leading a range of advocacy efforts, public affairs campaigns, PR, marketing, and communications activities.
    • Proven experience and discernment with media and journalist navigation.
    • Experience presenting to boards of directors, C-suite executives, association members, and committees.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator.
    • Creativity to conceptualize effective marketing and communications products.
    • Results-driven, highly organized self-starter with keen attention to detail.
    • Analytical and big-picture thinker with the ability to lead strategically, act as a change agent, and creatively solve problems.
    • Well-developed emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills.
    • High-touch customer service approach with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to build consensus among groups.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, adjust to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results.
    • Sound judgment, confidentiality, and an understanding of the C-suite structure.
    • Unwavering dedication to continually improving PCPC's reputation.

    • High ethical standards in an environment where humor, respect, kindness, and humility are valued at all levels.
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
    • Flexibility for overnight travel.
