    Job Description:
    Assists a faculty member in conducting research utilizing nonhuman primates.


    JOB DUTIES

    Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


    • Collects behavioral and cognitive data from nonhuman primates.
    • Codes behavioral and cognitive data from video, conduct preliminary analyses.
    • Performs quantification of neurons and glia using microscopy and other methods.
    • Troubleshoots equipment necessary for collecting data.
    • Prepares summary reports of data.
    • Assists with preparing conference abstracts.
    • Assists with training and supervising undergraduate research assistants.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES

    • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
    • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    EDUCATION

    Required:
    High School Diploma or equivalent


    Preferred:
    Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology or related field from four-year college or university.


    EXPERIENCE

    Required:
    None


    Preferred:

    • Experience working with nonhuman primates.
    • Previous experience working with laboratory animal research.
    * months of prior research experience.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


    Required:

    • Ability to ethically conduct neuroscience research with nonhuman primates.
    • BA-level understanding of statistics.
    • BA-level of understanding of IACUC.
    • Good organizational skills.
    • Good time management skills.

    Preferred:

    • Processing of blood samples into serum and plasma.
    • Handling nonhuman primates safely.
    • Microscopy experience.
    • Good time management skills.
    • Ability to create abstracts/posters for scientific conferences.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    All jobs require a current Criminal Background Check (CBC).

    Requires clearance from Texas Biomedical Research Institute for access to their campus.
