Job description
SUMMARY: The Laboratory Technician performs clinical laboratory testing by receiving samples, preparing samples for testing, and using lab analyzers. Interacts with other staff members for training and data analysis. Communicates with Laboratory Manager, staff, and reference labs as outlined.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Operate and maintain Agilent LCMS instruments for sample analysis.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on LCMS instruments.
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and cleaning of LCMS instruments.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality control standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Follows lab procedures for specimen handling and processing, reporting, and maintaining records.
- Adheres to all lab quality control policies and documents all quality control activities.
- Understands and adheres to HIPPA regulations and requirements at all times.
- Follows established safety standards and procedures and complies with legal regulations.
- Performs equipment maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Analyzes lab results to provide immediate feedback as indicated.
- Ensures proper inventory management of laboratory supplies.
- Trains new hires to ensure lab procedures are followed.
- Reports to work on time for all scheduled shifts and completes entire shift,
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a science discipline is required in accordance with CAP laboratory standards (e.g., biology, chemistry, biochemistry), a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating Agilent LCMS systems in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to think critically and analyze lab data based on a combination of experience and course study.
- Ability to exercise initiative and problem solving.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with clinical staff.

Clinic/Group Medical Practice environment with exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, use tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
HOURS/TRAVEL:
- May travel between locations occasionally as requested.
- Typical work hours: Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM, possible Saturdays.
- Depending on client-specific work schedule, may include other daily hours, weekends and/or holidays.
- May need to work occasional overtime as required.
