Position InformationPosition description :
The Department of Animal Sciences, Veterinary Technology Program, at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND has an immediate opening for a full-time 9-month (August - May annually), non-tenure track employee to impact the educational experiences of future veterinary technologists through classroom and laboratory instruction while serving as the Program Veterinarian.
Duties will include overseeing all aspects of animal care and use, working with team members and administration to meet American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) requirements for accreditation, development and review of appropriate protocols for preventive care, and providing veterinary medical and surgical care (spay/neuter of canines and felines) to animals in the teaching program and those seen in the Robinson Hall Veterinary Wellness Clinic.
In collaboration with other Veterinary Technology faculty, oversee and coordinate animal intake/outtake and husbandry, maintain positive relationships with partner animal organizations, and occasional morning/late afternoon and weekend availability for consultation during student animal care hours.
Provide academic and career advising for Veterinary Technology students, promote the program and recruit potential students. Seek extramural funds, partnerships, and relationships which support the teaching program.Contribute to the departmental governance by attending faculty meetings, serving on committees, and participating in other activities as appropriate, including activities in the community.
Participate in professional development activities such as professional and technical meetings, seminars, workshops, etc. Provide service to the profession, university, college, department and public as assigned, elected, or appropriate.Contribute to maintaining a positive and collegial environment conducive for scholarship, and good working relationships with faculty, staff, employees, and students.
The academic, research and service responsibilities are determined by the Department of Animal Sciences, and are subject to change, based on the needs of the Department and/or College.
Minimum qualifications :
The position requires a DVM degree with licensure to practice in North Dakota, with interest, experience, and physical ability to perform basic canine and feline surgical castration procedures and general veterinary practice activities.
Willingness to teach a variety of courses. Effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based, collaborative environment.Preferred Qualifications :
Veterinary medical experience and interest in working with small and large animals. Previous teaching experience, formal or informal. Experience or demonstrated ability to develop creative, effective methods of teaching.

Salary range:
$65,000-$75,000
