    Stillwater Center is a home for children and adults who are residents of Montgomery County, have the most severe and profound intellectual disabilities, are physically challenged, and/or have significant medical needs.

    A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Stillwater Center is required to have considerable knowledge of general nursing care; under direction, administer specified medications, provide direct nursing care and functional guidance to direct care providers in the performance of their duties.

    Summary of Job Duties

    Makes rounds with physician and assists with physical examination procedures; as directed, sets up and administers medications by various routes including oral, rectal and G-tube, NG-tube, eye, ear nose respiratory tract; performs skilled nursing procedures including application and changing of sterile dressings, trach care, tube feedings, administering oxygen, catheterization, aerosol treatments, chest percussion therapy, postural drainage, collection of specimens for laboratory testing; counts narcotics, orders supplies, cleans and replaces equipment.

    Provides general nursing care to residents: positions and feeds residents of limited mobility, assists residents with personal grooming and hygiene; administers prescribed treatments involving application of medications such as ointment and eye drops; assists in resident education regarding personal hygiene and grooming; performs the above according to Plans of Care, and IHP goals.

    Observes and records residents' conditions and responses to treatments and medications; charts residents' behavior, progress, and any unusual incidents; reports significant developments to the Registered Nurse, physician, or appropriate support function; completes occurrence reports and takes appropriate action.

    May assign duties and oversee direct care providers in the performance of general personal care such as bathing, dressing, and feeding residents, according to Plans of Care and IHP goals; monitor direct care providers in providing restorative nursing care, such as splints, positioning, walking, ROM; may provide input to performance evaluations of direct care providers.

    Maintains resident records and prepares reports such as daily shift reports, IHP, core assessments, and quarterly physicals; participates in staff conferences, nurses' meetings, and in-service training programs.

    Requires valid practical nurse license issued by Ohio Board of Nursing Education & Nurse Registration as outlined in sections to , inclusive of the Ohio Revised Code.

    Supplemental Information

    1st Shift (6:00 am - 6:00 pm) or 2nd Shift (6:00 pm to 6:00 am)
    Full Time: 72 Hours
    Part-Time: 60 Hours

    Employees who are scheduled to work and work between the hours of 6:00 pm and 6:00 am are entitled to a $2 per hour shift differential.

    A weekend shift differential of $3 per hour shall be paid to regular full-time and part-time employees for each hour worked between the hours of 6:00 am Saturday and 5:59 am Monday.

    Employees who are scheduled to work and work between the hours of 6:00 pm and 5:59 am on a weekend are entitled to a shift differential of $5 per hour.

    Biennial renewal of licensure as a practical nurse. Must obtain C.P.R. certification within the initial probationary period & maintain it during employment.
    • All full-time, part-time, temporary, and intermittent employees of Montgomery County working at Stillwater Center are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. New hires must provide a copy of their vaccination card to the Stillwater Center HR Manager prior to their employment start date or receive an approved exemption from the Director of Human Resources.
    All Montgomery County employees become members of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and have access to deferred compensation programs.

    Part-time Employees (Non-Benefits Eligible) (20 hours or less per week): Benefits include Long Term Sick Leave Accrual, Paid Personal Leave, and holiday pay for hours scheduled to work on holidays.

    Seasonal Employees: Benefits include Sick Leave accrued at 4.6 hours for every eighty 80 hours in active
    pay status. Seasonal employees scheduled to work 40 hours during their period of employment will accrue vacation in the same manner as regular full-time employees and can use their vacation after completion of twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods in active pay status. Part-time Seasonal employees (scheduled to work less than 40 hours) do not accrue vacation.

    Intermittent and Temporary Employees: Long-Term Sick Leave accrual is based on hours worked.
