    Maria provides student-focused opportunity education and seeks an experienced educator to serve as nursing instructor in the Associate in Applied Science in Nursing program.

    The Nursing Instructor reports to the Associate Dean and collaborates with the Associate Dean and other educators and staff within the department and across the college.

    Key Responsibilities


    • Develop and teach nursing courses (i.e., 12 to 15 instructional contact hours per semester)
    • Develop and use sound and varied means/measures to assess student learning outcomes
    • Demonstrate empathy and respect for students
    • Create a culture that encourages student expression of ideas
    • Provide remediation to students
    • Provide academic advisement to students
    • Develop and participate in student orientations as scheduled
    • Participate in prospective and new student events as scheduled
    • Collaborate with staff in Student Services to connect students with necessary resources
    • Serve on Nursing Department and College committees
    • Supervise, teach, and evaluate students in clinical settings
    • Teach skills and conduct simulated learning experiences in lab settings providing formative and summative clinical competence feedback
    • Collaborate with others on systematic evaluation and continuous quality improvement of the curriculum and program
    • Engage in professional development and scholarship (e.g., scholarship of engagement, scholarship of teaching, scholarship of application, scholarship of integration, or scholarship of discovery)
    • Other duties as assigned and aligned with the faculty handbook

    Qualifications and Experience


    • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
    • Expertise with Mental Health Nursing
    • Experience teaching pre-licensure level nursing courses
    • Experience supervising students in clinical settings
    • A minimum of four years of clinical experience as a registered nurse preferred
    • A current, unencumbered RN license in the State of New York
