- The Charge Nurse accepts the responsibility and accountability for the operations and staff for the entire unit during a designated shift and the evaluation and treatment of the populations.
- Under the direction of the Director, supervises and coordinates the work activities of the professional and technical staff
- Organizes and coordinates the activities of the department through the appropriate assignment of responsibilities, delegation of authority, and overall direction of workflow processes
- Monitors and evaluates the activities of the department personnel; provides management coaching, guidance, and on-the-job training and retraining, as necessary, to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Initiates progressive disciplinary action as needed
- Responsible for planning, directing, supervising, implementing and evaluating nursing care of patients.
- Reports to Critical Care Unit Director
- Ensures all assigned/delegated additional tasks are completed in a timely manner. Enforces unit and medical center policies.
- Responsible for compliance with overall nursing practice standards of the specialty area (Reports to Department Director)
- Responsible for compliance with standards during assigned shift (Reports to House Supervisor)
- Current/valid RN license
- Associates degree in nursing
- Prior Acute/Critical Care experience required
- Prior supervisor/charge nurse experience preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to hire
