Job Description:

Our client is seeking a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) specializing in psychiatric care to join their team at Montford Unit. This role involves a variety of nursing duties across multiple settings, ensuring the well-being and safety of inmates. The LVN will be responsible for executing clinical tasks, managing medical conditions, and providing comprehensive healthcare under the guidance of medical professionals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver routine and specialized nursing care, including med pass, wound care, and emergency response.
• Interpret and execute physicians' orders, administer medications, and assist physicians during examinations.
• Apply surgical dressings, manage bandages, and provide emergency first aid care.
• Monitor, record, and report inmates' vital signs and reactions to treatments.
• Offer health-related education and oversee discharge planning for inmates.
• Supervise and instruct correctional staff on inmates' health care and safety needs.
• Manage medical supplies inventory and maintain accurate medical records.
• Engage in health care education for inmates to promote understanding and compliance with treatment plans.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse Program.
• Current LVN license/permit in the State of Texas.
• At least one year of experience in Med/Surg or Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC).
• At least one year of experience in psychiatric nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
