This is a remote position position.
Compensation:
The base salary range for a Group Underwriter I
is
$41,000 to $54,000.
Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure and equity.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.
Hours:
This role supports our west coast sales team and applicants must be available to work 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PST.
As an example, those residing in the EST zone would have hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST in order to ensure coverage until 3:00 p.m. PST.
Group Underwriter Overview
Produces rates for new small groups on Life and Disability, Dental and Worksite products using company proposal system
Conducts risk assessment and selection for small to mid-sized case market on Life and Disability, Dental and Worksite products
Prepares formal proposals and renewals using word processing, spreadsheet tools and software as applicable
Verifies rates on sold cases as required
Completes financial exhibits using established guidelines and under direction from the Underwriting Manager.
Essential Duties
Assesses risk and produces rates for new groups
Completes annual renewals for all products and performs related maintenance tasks
Services current group clients including benefit changes, reporting, and response to telephone and email inquiries
Verifies sold case data including final rating
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of group insurance, dental and worksite products if applicable
Understanding of underwriting principles and rating methodology
Advanced MS Office skills including Excel
Strong math and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
2-3 years of related experience
