    Job Description


    This position works independently under the direction of the Superintendent of Inventory Control to manage system wide fixed assets inventory, warranty program, and company service fleet repairs.

    The position also administers a program of bus fleet quality control inspections on and off site. This position performs technical work and prepares written reports as necessary. The position also provides backup capability for the Senior Maintenance Support assistant.

    Examples of Duties


    • The position prepares and processes warranty documents relating to product failures and repairs. Written reports are prepared describing repairs and component condition. Ensures that defective materials are available for manufacturer representatives and arranges for disposal or return. Maintains comprehensive and accurate vehicle records pertaining to date of acceptance, vehicle mileage, term of coverage and status of payment.
    • Periodically performs off-site new equipment inspections. Prepares detailed reports documenting inspection activities.
    • Administers fleet radio communications repair and installation program. Coordinates scheduled repairs with the contractor and Maintenance Supervisors. Ensures vehicles and supplies are available for service, installation and/or repairs. Monitors inventories of radios, parts and components.
    • Work cooperatively with all levels of personnel.
    • Attends in-service training, seminars or other opportunities for professional development as made available by the Agency. Provides training for Agency personnel as required. Actively participates in staff meetings, trainings, etc.
    • Has thorough working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures.
    • Performs clerical and administrative duties as required to complete work assignments and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    • Data entry and reporting of the employee tool replacement program.
    • Assists in performing fixed asset inventory and audits as assigned.
    Qualifications


    • Minimum possession of a High School Diploma/GED. Technical training in heavy duty equipment maintenance or fleet maintenance management is required. Equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for this requirement.
    • Three (3) years of relevant experience in the maintenance of heavy duty equipment, equipment inspection, inventory control, purchasing or related areas, including two (2) or more years in a responsible staff position working for a large fleet maintenance operation. Computer knowledge and experience is required.
    • Basic knowledge of the principles of troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and inventory control of heavy duty equipment is required. This includes knowledge of record keeping, warranty tracking, and other related reporting procedures used to support maintenance operations. The employee must be able to understand and apply the terms and conditions of equipment warranties.
    • Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision and to exercise proper judgment in researching and reporting of results. Must be willing to work on the shop floor and storage garage as well as in an office setting. This position requires the ability to work effectively with staff and bargaining unit employees in Maintenance Services and other departments of the Company.
    • Valid drivers' license and the ability to be insured by our insurance company throughout employment. Individual will be required to travel in the course of their daily work to various sites to conduct research.
    • Proficient in software programs (word processing, spreadsheet and database), Internet applications and utilization of all relevant office equipment. The ability to learn quickly internal software programs. Must be able to handle confidential information.
    • The ability to prioritize projects and have excellent communication skills (especially verbal), interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
