Job description
DescriptionShop Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting cabinetry to a high standard of quality and durability. This includes surface preparation, color matching, application of finishes, and ensuring a flawless final product.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare cabinet surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and patching as needed.
- Select appropriate primers, paints, stains, and clear finishes.
- Mix and match colors to achieve desired shades.
- Apply finishes using various methods, including spraying, rolling, and brushing.
- Ensure proper protection of surrounding areas during painting, such as masking walls, floors, and appliances.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
- Inspect finished work for quality and address any imperfections.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- May be required to remove and install cabinet doors and hardware.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in cabinet painting or a related field.
- Proficiency in various painting techniques, including spraying, rolling, and brushing.
- Strong understanding of different paint types, stains, and clear finishes (oils, lacquers, shellacs, urethanes, alkyd, latex, etc.).
- Excellent color vision and aesthetic judgment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret paint specifications and instructions.
- Knowledge of proper spray gun maintenance and cleaning procedures.
- Physical ability to perform the job, including lifting and standing for extended periods
