    Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Process Safety Engineer with experience in refining and terminal operations to join our team

    Role Summary:

    The Process Safety Engineer role is responsible for key activities in the implementation of PSM at the site, including the continuous improvement of the site process safety, loss prevention and contractor safety. This position coordinates Process Safety Management (PSM) efforts at the site, including process hazard analyses and PSM/RMP audits. Provides technical expertise to operating units to help evaluate risks and cost-effectively resolve PSM issues, including recommendations from

    PHAs, audits and incident investigations. The Process Safety Engineer will serve on PHA teams, facilitate LOPAs, develop procedures, lead/participate in incident investigations and safety training, interact with operations and maintenance and interface with external regulatory bodies.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

    Maintain a risk management / reduction plan for the site

    Coordinate process hazard analyses and revalidations

    Implement action items derived from Process Hazard Analysis, Hazard Operability, Layers of Protection Analysis, and Pre-Startup Review utilizing the plant Management of Change system

    Lead the process of reconciling P&IDs and other process technology critical documents between project design and installation

    Coach, and train site employees on process safety management programs

    Facilitate management of change requests to ensure that existing process changes are documented

    Provide project input concerning process and personnel safety requirements included in generally accepted engineering standards such as NFPA, ASME, API, etc. , reducing the business' need to hire third parties

    Work with the Operations and Technical Managers to provide Process Safety support and align Site procedures and processes

    Maintenance Project Support. Help in the development of the scope and planning for maintenance turn-arounds and other necessary facility outages.

    Compliance. Collaborating with Buckeye HSSE professionals to ensure that safe and environmentally sound work practices are being developed and followed in operations and projects

    Processes and Procedures. Developing and deploying processes, systems, tools, and procedures to aid in the execution of operational and maintenance work activities in the facility.

    And other duties as assigned.

    Position Degree in Chemical Engineering is Degree in Mechanical Engineering may be considered if extensive experience in the processing industry is shown. The capabilities described herein will still be met.

    3 - 5 years' experience in operation of crude oil refining units, LPG, Pipeline, Tank Farm and Dock operations

    Experience with operation of low temperature refrigeration systems and refrigerated LPG storage will be a plus.

    Up to 25% travel

    Certificates & Licenses:

    PE preferred

    Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:

    Good communication skills needed to interact with all levels of the organization including: management, engineering professionals, plant operators, maintenance personnel, suppliers, and contractors

    Application of standard work processes (functional excellence), including engineering design standards, engineering operating procedures, inherent safety, HAZOP, etc.

    Working knowledge of key Industry Process Safety standards

    Skillful in Microsoft Office suite of software

    Skillful in trending, and reporting from Distributive Control Systems (Delta V in particular)

    Ability to teach/coach others in process and procedure

    Essential Functions:

    This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.

    This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

    This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.

    Physical & Safety Requirements:

    General office/control room environment will be typical. However, this role will require spending considerable portions of time in the operating plant. The ability to spend significant portions of working time standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in the outdoor environment year-around will be required.
