    Position Overview
    Primary Function of Organizational Unit
    Information Technology Services, in collaboration with the campus community, provides technological solutions and services for students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the NCCU mission and strategic plan.
    Primary Purpose of Position
    This position reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and is a member of the ITS leadership team. The Director of IT Governance, Outreach, and Consulting establishes and oversees effective IT governance frameworks for the University. This involves developing policies, procedures, and standards that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. The director is responsible for ensuring that the organization's IT strategies are in harmony with overall business objectives, and they play a crucial role in strategic planning and execution. They lead outreach programs to educate internal stakeholders on IT policies, security protocols, and compliance measures, fostering a culture of awareness and adherence.

    The director collaborates with external partners and vendors, seeking to optimize technology usage and enhance capabilities through strategic consulting. They also spearhead risk management initiatives, conducting assessments and implementing measures to mitigate potential IT risks.

    Minimum Education/Experience
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and seven years of management experience in information technology. An advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.
    The ideal candidate will be a proven leader who can motivate and manage staff; energize the university community and show a proven record of creativity and enthusiasm resulting in successful teamwork.
    Master's degree preferred, with a minimum of 15 years of progressive information technology management experience. Experience in a university setting in which technology is a key component of the delivery of education to include compliance with accreditation regulations is preferred.
    Experience leading an organization through the implementation of process and standards and mitigating the issues that an organization goes through during a major change initiative, is highly desirable.
    Demonstrated understanding of technology enhanced learning
    Demonstrated ability to effectively engage a staff in institutional vision.

    Primary Responsibilities and Duties
    Function Information Technology
    Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
    Build and maintain effective communication channels and partnerships between the ITS department and other University departments and divisions. Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand operational needs and provide strategic consulting to align IT solutions with overall objectives. Promote awareness of ITS initiatives and capabilities through outreach programs, ensuring that the campus is informed on available technologies and best practices for usage. Lead efforts to assess and enhance business software solutions. Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical campus partners.

    Define and justify resource allocations to IT services to best contribute to achieving the University's mission. Play an active role in the collaborative efforts with other universities within the
    UNC system and at the UNC System Office.
    Function Administrative
    Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
    Working alongside the University CIO, play a key leadership role in selecting products, devising solutions, and building relationships as well as recommending infrastructure and personnel investments to maximize institutional effectiveness. Steward IT policies through an update and approval process. Convene regular meetings of appropriate governance committees and seek consensus for project prioritization.

    Oversee the project management office (PMO) function and ensure the successful delivery of IT projects on time and within budget. Manage the IT project portfolio, prioritizing projects based on strategic alignment and resource availability. Define and implement project management methodologies, standards, and best practices. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to project managers and project teams.
    Function Information Technology
    Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
    Ensure that federal, state and University system IT mandates are accomplished on time. On occasion, attend in person (travel involved) and video conference meetings for the CIO Council and other statewide IT leadership meetings when the University CIO is unavailable. Serve as a key member of the University's Data Governance Committee.
