We are working with the largest and fastest-growing manufacturing of paper in North America and its need for a Project Engineer to support high voltage projects.

The Project Engineer/High Voltage Engineer reports to the Director, Engineering and is assigned duties on a project basis.

The position plans, conducts, and directs major engineering projects involving independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of integrated pulp and paper mill equipment.

The position may act as project leader or team leader to coordinate engineering or large maintenance projects.

The position is required to apply comprehensive engineering skills from several disciplines to complete projects and may direct the work activity of design engineers, project engineers, technical service engineers, process control engineers, and CAD designers as required to fully complete assignments.

The incumbent will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering groups to ensure project schedule, cost, scope, and quality objectives are met.

Qualifications/Responsibilities:
Provides Project Management activities for Capital and Major Expense projects as assigned.

Provides power system support expertise which includes engineering, design, and operations support of generators and auxiliary systems, excitation systems, high voltage power distribution systems, arc flash analysis, digital and electromechanical relay protection, programmable logic controllers, and distributed control systems.

Provide practical project engineering and design expertise utilizing incumbents education and training on all projects or sub-projects assigned. Completes necessary calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, etc. as assignment requires according to approved time schedule and engineering budget.

Communicates his/her project activities with other project members and operations and support personnel to minimize conflicts and delays in project schedule.

Reports activity and cost status on assigned projects, analyzing results against schedules, budgets, and desired operative objectives recommending corrective action for variances when required.

Assures that engineering output is in compliance with existing statutory codes, company policy, and safety standards.

Maintains professional competence and knowledge of developments in processes, emerging technology and products through consultation with other company technical and professional personnel as well as industry peers.

Requirements:

Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least three (3) years experience in project engineering or related field.

Experience with power generation and high voltage power distribution systems a plus.
