JOB DESCRIPTION

Looking for highly motivated nurses to help on this PCU Cardiac Surgery Unit. This unit cares for patients that are status post cardiac surgery. Staffing Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test

Department: Observation Unit

Shift timings: 18:30-07:00

Unit Capacity: 24 Beds

Population Served: Pre and Post Cardiac Surgery, Acute Coronary Syndrome, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, unstable arrhythmias and other related cardiac disorders.

Ages of Patients Served: Young Adult through Late Adult

Nurse to Patient Ratios: 5:1

Core Staffing Plan: Variable staffing grid to include: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs). An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients.

Ages of Patients Served: Adolescent through Late Adult

Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6

Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• The ability to stand for extended periods.
• Strong technical skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Associates Degree in Nursing
• Two years of current cardiovascular telemetry experience
• Active unencumbered registered nurse Indiana license
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing required
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)

Requirements:

• COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.
