- Build and assemble mechanical components according to requirements.
- Troubleshoot and complete all maintenance processes and ensure that units always meet specifications.
- Diagnose failures and make repairs on mechanical, or other various systems.
- Aid in the removal or replacement of assemblies such as springs, axles, and brakes, using hydraulic jacks or hoist, to gain access.
- Familiarity with various mechanical tools such as drill presses, grinders, MIG/TIG/stick welders, plasma torches, cutting equipment (i.e. chop saw), pneumatic tools and electric/manual hand tools.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Ensures that all work performed meets required codes.
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics.
- 2-3 years of work experience as a mechanical technician in a related industry.
- Experience with various hand tools.
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
- Able to safely complete the physical tasks associated with the essential job functions. These tasks include extensive climbing, walking, lifting, bending, standing, carrying, and squatting.
