    Job Summary

    Designs, develops, and tests electronic systems, components, or circuits for use within equipment or machinery. May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

    MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design and layout installation of electrical and electronic equipment associated with a manufacturing production line, including 480 volt 3 phase power distribution, 120 volt 1 phase power, 24 volt DC, PLC and communication networks.
    • Prepare purchase requisitions for materials and labor required for installations.
    • Supervise installation of electrical and electronic equipment.
    • Utilize schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams and instruction manuals to install and repair electrical and electronic control systems.
    • Utilize VOM, ammeter and oscilloscope and other engineering tools to troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment, controls and automation.
    • Utilize latest software and automation devices and equipment to develop creative solutions to support operational needs
    • Commission and fine tune control systems, working individually or as a member of a team of other engineers, technicians, and contractors.
    • Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budgets

    EMPLOYEE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and minimum 7-10 years of experience in engineering field or in a related area.
    • Preferred minimum 7 years experience providing technical service and /or engineering support in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and instruction manuals.
    • Demonstrated project management and troubleshooting ability.
    • 30-40% travel required.
    • PC skills including AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word and Microsoft Project
    • Experience with electrical/mechanical CAD, Allen Bradley PLCs, Studio 5000, various HMI interfaces (Proface, FTView ME/SE), VFDs including but not limited to PowerFlex 525, Yaskawa V1000, Leroy Somer DigiDrive, and experience with various networking equipment
    • Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis and develop plans from resulting findings
    • Installation, programming, troubleshooting automation axis controls
