- Evaluate students' individual needs for assistive technology (AT) tools and services through assessments and collaboration with educational teams, including teachers, special educators, and related service providers.
- Develop and implement individualized AT plans for students with disabilities, in line with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and educational goals.
- Remend and facilitate the acquisition, installation, and implementation of appropriate AT devices and software.
- Provide training and ongoing support to students, teachers, and families on the use of assistive technology tools and acmodations.
- Collaborate with school staff to integrate assistive technology into the curriculum, ensuring students have equal access to educational materials and activities.
- Conduct staff training and professional development sessions on assistive technology and its effective implementation in the classroom.
- Stay informed about emerging assistive technology trends and advancements, and evaluate their potential applications in the educational setting.
- Maintain records and documentation related to the provision of assistive technology services, including assessment results, progress reports, and training materials.
- Collaborate with external agencies and vendors to ensure the availability and functionality of assistive technology resources.
- Provide ongoing support to students and staff, troubleshooting technical issues and facilitating repairs or replacements as needed.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Assistive Technology, or a related field.
- Prior experience working as an AT Specialist or in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of a wide range of assistive technology tools, software, and devices for students with disabilities.
- Familiarity with the assessment process for determining appropriate assistive technology interventions.
- Understanding of relevant laws and regulations governing the use of assistive technology in education, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Strong munication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, teachers, and administrators.
- Ability to provide training and support to individuals with varying levels of technological proficiency.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and paperwork.
- Passion for empowering students with disabilities through the use of assistive technology.
