    Cyber Security Engineer

    • Location: Oakland, CA First 2 weeks Onsite then transitions to Hybrid - 2 Days Remote/3 Days Onsite)
    • Duration: 6 months contract potential to extend / convert to hire

    Job Description:

    Client is seeking a talented Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team in Oakland, California. As a vital part of our organization, you will play a crucial role in protecting our systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain robust cybersecurity measures.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
    • Monitor and analyze security incidents, conduct investigations, and provide timely response and resolution.
    • Participate in incident response exercises and contribute to the continuous improvement of incident response procedures.
    • Configure and maintain security tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus software.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders on cybersecurity-related matters.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to proactively address emerging risks.
    • Conduct security awareness training and workshops for staff to promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness and compliance.
    • Develop and implement cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices to safeguard infrastructure and sensitive information.
    • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure that security measures are integrated into the design, development, and maintenance of systems and applications.
    • Assist in compliance efforts with relevant regulations and standards, such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and NIST.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
    • Proven experience 4-5 working in a cybersecurity role, preferably in a transportation or critical infrastructure environment. Generalist Security, IoT/OT, Security , NIST, CISA background.
    • Extensive experience with Firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Office 365 Security, VSX, and Endpoint Security. In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, technologies, and standards.
    • Hands-on experience with security tools, such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and vulnerability assessment tools.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
    • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are preferred.
    • Experience with network and system administration, including Linux and Windows environments, is desirable.
    • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances as required by Client.
