- Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, or a field applicable to the practice of juvenile justice; AND four (4) years of experience working with juveniles and families in the counseling and case management of juveniles and families, with at least one (1) of those years of experience leading staff, projects, or special assignments; OR
- Associate's degree in criminal justice, counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, or field applicable to the practice of juvenile justice; AND six (6) years of supervised work experience in the counseling of juveniles and families, with at least one (1) of those years of experience leading staff, projects, or special assignments; OR
- Eight (8) years of supervised work experience in the counseling of juveniles and families, with at least one (1) of those years of experience leading staff, projects, or special assignments.
- Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
- Completion of a criminal history check in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules.
- Some positions may require oral and written fluency in another language.

The Washington County Juvenile Services Department is seeking a full-time Senior Juvenile Counselor to support the Community Supervision Unit. This team works within the Juvenile Department buildings located in downtown Hillsboro. The Senior Juvenile Counselor supervises youth within the Washington County community who are on juvenile probation or diversion status. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position, working during normal business hours Monday - Friday.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
The Juvenile Services Department is responsible for the supervision of high-risk youth in the community, including youth on probation and being diverted from the court system. Staff are responsible for maintaining court ordered conditions to protect public safety and work to restore victims. Juvenile Counselors support youth through the brokering of services that include connection to behavioral health services, skill building to strengthen protective factors in the home and community as well as to mitigate risk factors, connect with school district staff to enhance the educational experience of youth, and support youth in developing positive prosocial behaviors and the skills to continue to be successful within the community. Staff regularly work in the community with youth and their families as well as in the courtroom setting. The Senior Juvenile Counselor manages a caseload of clients and helps other staff on their team by training, mentoring, and providing support.
