The Bureau of Environmental Health and Radiation Protection is seeking a candidate to fill our Senior Health Physicist position.
This position will perform complex and non-repetitive evaluation of production, use, release, disposal and or presence of radioactive material in environment, nuclear facilities, or ionizing radiation from any device or equipment that emits or is capable of producing radiation.
This position will:
* as a field coordinator, assess potential health and safety problems and act expediently to minimize health effects to general public and workers from potential exposure incidences
* support ODH radiological emergency preparedness staff to provide training to local health departments and first responders in Ohio on radiation emergencies (radiation fundamentals, hands on radiation survey instrumentation and their use and provide guidance on local procedures and plans)
* support and participate in local exercises and tabletop sessions
* develop and implement RHS plans, procedures, and guidance on radiological health emergency planning and protective actions
* develop and maintain outreach program that provides expertise to local, state, and federal agencies, and non-governmental organizations (public health districts, Red Cross, volunteer groups, community reception centers) on radiological issues and approaches
* develop and give presentations on radiation protection and radiological emergency preparedness
