    A week in the life of a Damage Control Technical Trainer:


    • Provide deckplate training to U.S
    Navy sailors in all ship classes as part of the Engineering Readiness Assistance Team (ERAT), but primarily to damage controlmen (DC) and Hull Technicians (HT)


    • Provide support for TYCOM equipment Readiness for Sea Assessments (RFSA) and other in port and underway Readiness Evaluations (RE) as required by the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual.
    • Be part of "embedded trainers" supporting TYCOM/ISIC to improve operator and maintainer expertise in ship-wide installed and portable damage control systems and equipment found in all classes of ships.
    • Training efforts will include on-the-job deckplate training events for up to three weeks at a time and may include very occasional overseas travel (once a year).
    • Training will be conducted primarily in Norfolk, VA and surrounding shipyards and could include occasional travel to Mayport, FL and Rota, Spain
    Training may also include a few weeknights at sea per month in support of TYCOM Readiness Evaluations.


    • Trainers will work with ships identified by the TYCOM to improve overall crew level of knowledge in engineering administrative programs, and equipment operations and maintenance to increase overall personnel and shipboard readiness

    • Possess active secret security clearance.
    • Possess 20+ years of U.S
    Navy experience.


    • Former E7-E9, Warrant Officer or Limited Duty Officer.
    • Damage Controlman (DC) or Hull Technician (HT)

    The salary/hourly range for this position is $64,000- 68,000 per year
    Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law
