    Summary



    Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) will provide, direct, and supervise the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran population. She/he must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting.



    Duties

    The primary duties for the Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) position include but are not limited to:

    • Manage acute and chronic illness states using whole health concepts and transformative nursing modalities.
    • Using ICARE values, providing population specific and culturally and ethnically sensitive care.
    • Maintaining a caring and safe environment, coordinating the care across settings and among caregivers.
    • Safely administers medications and assesses response to medications.
    • Adapts treatments, procedures, and equipment based on population specific patient needs.
    • Implement health promotion and prevention interventions.
    • Assist veterans in the attainment of optimal levels of functioning through rehabilitation.
    • With hospice care, provide supportive measures for the dying patient and significant others.
    • Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers.
    • Maintain confidentiality of patient/employee information electronically, verbally, and written.
    • Work and function within a safe manner including infection control and operation of equipment.
    • Integrate and apply pertinent aspects of the Medical Center performance improvement programs into his/her professional practice.
    • Utilize nursing research and literature in daily practice.

    • BSN
    Work Schedule: Day/Night shifts with rotating weekends and holidays - 12 hours per week/24 per pay period.
