    Pay:

    This is an exempt/salary position. The pay range is $60,000 - $85,000 annually. Pay may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience.

    Location/Travel Requirements:

    This position will work out of our corporate Black Hawk, South Dakota office. Travel Required: Some travel required.

    Job Summary

    Prepare cost estimates for projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service. This position will provide professional assistance to Operations Manager, field supervisors, and customers.

    Internally, this position will interact with other support staff (e.g. Estimating, Accounting and Finance, and other Corporate Services staff). Externally, this position will interact with owners, owner representatives, architects, engineers, trade contractors, vendors and others who are associated with project related activities.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities

    • Develop bid hour and bid sheets for estimates on bid projects and change orders for current projects.
    • Contact suppliers for pricing
    • Prepare take-offs, staking sheets and budgets
    • Familiarize with bid documents.
    • Conduct visits to job sites as needed.
    • Inform others within the department of project status and current assignments.
    • Assess accurate and efficient estimating techniques.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with customers.
    • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
    • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
    • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
    • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
    • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

    Qualifications & Skills

    Required:

    • Experience within the utility contracting industry - Civil knowledge required
    • Bachelors degree in Business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or equivalent field; equivalent work experience, or combination of work and education, may be substituted
    • Valid Drivers License

    Preferred:

    • Management of civil construction projects
    • Energy and infrastructure understanding including substations, wind farms, solar farms, and transmission line right of way
    • 3D civil take off software
    • GPS modeling with CAD files
    • Knowledge of budgets, change orders, and project supporting documents
    • 5+ years experience on DB/EPC projects in the power delivery industry; ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in transmission, distribution, and substation work
    • Proficient in handling multiple projects and ensure law and requirements are being followed
    • Familiar with technology and proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and other software)
    • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and able to use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
    • High sense of integrity job requires being honest and ethical
    • Self-started and well organized
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
