Under the general direction of the Supervisor, the Health Unit Coordinator functions as the registrar to the inpatient nursing floors and a clerical assistant to providers and nursing department.

Working within the electronic medical record, the Health Unit Coordinator provides a mechanism for efficient and smooth flow of patient care, departmental and interdepartmental communication through the functions of scheduling, arranging transportation, and communicating with staff, patients, and providers.

Required qualifications:

• Completion of a community college unit secretary curriculum or equivalent experience

Preferred qualifications:

• 2 years General office and/or Unit Secretary, Health Unit Coordinator, or Receptionist experience
