    Description

    Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Administration and Finance, the Finance Director manages financial activity and improving financial processes within the School of Nursing. This position has responsibility for overseeing, monitoring, and reporting for all financial activities of the school, including management of state funds, tuition, recharges, clinical income and sponsored projects.

    Incumbent will recommend and implement strategies to re-engineer School financial processes to increase staff productivity and efficiency and improve support to Department Chairs and faculty. This includes oversight and development of department and school budget strategies, improved post-award financial reporting, development of recharge strategies and models, as well as development of business plans for new initiatives, including academic programs and reinforce clinical practice development. The incumbent will work with faculty, department leadership, and financial staff to develop and implement optimal strategies for aiding the financial management of sponsored projects from pre-award budget proposals to closeout. This position manages the SON Finance Hub which houses all finance functions for the school, it's four academic departments and one organized research unit (ORU). In addition, the position recommends organizational changes and leading change management to improve effectiveness and efficiency of financial operations and procedures.

    Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

    For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
