Field Technician (Underground Utility Locator)

Visionary Broadband seeks a qualified individual to fill the role of Underground Utility Locator. This full-time, hourly position will join the Field Service crew(s) at Visionary Broadband, a division of Visionary Broadband, LLC to support our highly dynamic fiber optic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and qualified candidate to protect underground assets by effectively locating and documenting our fiber network

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review, update and comprehend utility as-builts, construction plans, and site schematics.
• Conduct underground utility locating
• Ability to communicate with contractors regarding damaged facilities.
• Ability to write daily field and site investigation reports; prepare utility schematics and photo exhibits using the provided software and templates.
• Ability to work independently and diagnose complex utility environments.
• Travel overnight when necessary
• Embrace cross-training with parallel in-house technical disciplines and learn new technology and new skill sets quickly.

Requirements:

• Experience performing utility locates preferred.
• Experience with electromagnetic, metal detection, push rodding, is preferred. Will provide additional training as needed.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are critical
• Competent person training preferred but not required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; highly motivated

Physical Requirements:

• Lift and carry up to and above 50 pounds.
• Utilize fine motor coordination, clear speech, and good visual acuity.
• Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
• Continually required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts
• Exposure to outside weather conditions
