    NGS Analyst I, II, or III

    Job Purpose:

    The NGS DNA Analyst job's focus is on preparing extracts for library preparation, performing library preparation, and next-generation DNA sequencing.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Successful performance will require that the individual:

    • Adhere to ISO 17025 requirements, safety protocols, and SOPs.
    • Perform DNA quantitation and other QC assays.
    • Performs library preparation and other remediation techniques
    • Helps maintain chain of custody of evidence
    • Participate in the development, validation, and implementation of new analytical techniques.
    • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
    • Monitor and maintain laboratory supplies and reagents inventory.
    • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
    • Provide expert witness testimony in court if necessary.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications :

    NGS Analyst I

    Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, statistics and or population genetics, forensic sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field.

    A minimum of 1+ years of laboratory experience in NGS sequencing and/or library preparation.

    Excellent organizational skills

    NGS Analyst II

    All of the qualifications for NGS Analyst I except;

    A minimum of 3+ years of laboratory experience in NGS sequencing and/or library preparation.

    NGS Analyst III

    All of the qualifications for NGS Analyst I except;

    A minimum of 6+ years of laboratory experience in NGS sequencing and/or library preparation.

    A graduate degree can replace up to 2 years of laboratory experience.

    Working Conditions:

    An NGS DNA Analyst's work is performed in a laboratory with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards such as blood and other biological fluids.

    Requires reading/viewing potentially disturbing case file materials.

    As an NGS DNA Analyst, you may be required to present findings in a courtroom setting.

    The position requires occasional long hours, work on the evenings, weekends, and holidays along with the possibility of domestic travel to support business and/or scientific objectives.

    Physical Requirements:

    Physical presence at Othram's laboratory facilities located in The Woodlands, TX during regular business hours Monday through Friday.

    Position requires standing, repetitive motion (pipetting), and lifting up to 75 pounds.
