    Overview:
    Oversees all aspects of the business functions of the Nursing Division.

    Leads the development, tracking and reporting of complex budgetary and financial functions as well as key demographic, accreditation and quality data of the Division.

    In conjunction with members of the Nursing Leadership Team, leads the planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets and the division's revenue cycle.

    Conducts complex financial analysis of special projects including business plans, major capital purchases, and facility renovations.

    Ensures timely and accurate data submission of key Nursing Division regulatory, accreditation and quality/performance metrics, including comprehensive analyses and comparisons to appropriate benchmarks.

    Manages all contracts of the Division, ensuring compliance with MHS Internal Audit & Compliance requirements. Supervises Division Administrative Assistants & Materials Specialist staff. Provide visibility to the financial status of the division to the VP Operations and the Memorial Health System leadership


    Qualifications:

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance required. Graduate degree required (MBA preferred).


    Licensure/Certification/Registry:
    CPA required.


    Experience:
    5 to 7 years relevant experience required. Public and project accounting experience preferred. Continuously increasing financial responsibility required including accounting, reporting, financial analysis and project management experience.

    Three years of financial analysis experience in a health care related area required.

    Two years of supervisory experience preferred.

    Revenue cycle and contract management experience preferred.

    Demonstrated experience creating executive level presentation documents preferred.

    Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects concurrently preferred.


    Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    Current knowledge of healthcare financial, regulatory, and accreditation standards preferred

    Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Access Database required.

    Excellent written and oral communication skills required.


    Responsibilities:
    Leads development of annual operating and capital budgets. Monitors monthly operating statements and identifies and resolves variances. Develops action plans with Nursing Division leaders as needed to address variances.

    Makes recommendations to CNO and VP Nursing for changes in course of action as appropriate to re-align Division with target goals/outcomes expected.

    Creates, maintains and distributes specific budget, forecasting and project performance metrics for the Nursing Division. Communicates routinely to appropriate oversight groups.

    Creates and implements financial monitoring and decision support tools to assist Nursing leaders to make efficient and effective financial and resource utilization decisions.

    Tracks and monitors HR data for the Nursing Division. Assists with workforce planning and analysis.


    Compiles and distributes summary reports and resulting action plans for benchmarking reports generated from NDNQI and Labor Management Institute databases.

    Conducts in-depth analysis of external benchmarking data and assumes responsibility for preparation of presentation and recommendations to Nurse Leaders and CNO regarding potential changes in skill mix, HPPD, etc.

    Completes data requests from external agencies related to Nursing Division financial, human resources and quality performance metrics. Oversees collection and submission of quality and demographic data to selected databases.

    Coordinates legal reviews with Contract Management to ensure all contracts are executed and administered according to MHS policies. Ensure timely renewal and adherence to contract terms at all times. Maintain accounting functions for all vendor contracts, invoices and budget tracking.


    Leads the review, update and maintenance of the Nursing revenue cycle to maximize reimbursement within the guidelines of regulatory requirements.

    Develops and implements appropriate auditing functions to ensure accurate charge entry and reimbursement.


    Serves as active member of the Patient Care Value Analysis Team and assumes responsibility for analyzing potential financial impact of supply additions, conversions, or deletions.

    Develops and implements strategies for Nursing Division supply and equipment management to mitigate loss.


    Supervises the Nursing Materials and Equipment Specialists to ensure availability of adequate supplies/equipment to meet the needs of the units.

    Reviews performance and completes on-going and annual evaluations. Responsible for staff development, coaching, counseling, and corrective action as needed.

    Supervises the Data Analysts to ensure accurate census and labor reports are maintained. Reviews performance and completes on-going and annual evaluations. Responsible for staff development, coaching, counseling, and corrective action as needed.


    Supervises the Nursing Administrative Assistants to ensure availability of adequate clerical support to meet the needs of the units/Nurse Managers.

    Reviews performance and completes on-going and annual evaluations. Responsible for staff development, coaching, counseling, and corrective action as needed.


    Manages the purchasing process for capital and expense items for special projects, coordinates the delivery/implementation processes and ensures proper accounting in financial statements.


    Maintains a close working relationship with all areas of the Finance Division, Clinical Resource Management, Purchasing, and Quality/Safety to facilitate assistance with managing, reporting and analyzing all financial data (budget, reimbursement, financial performance, cost savings initiatives, etc.) and regulatory/accreditation and performance metrics of the Division.

    Participates in committees and task force activities as requested.


    Serves as a Nursing Division lead for planning and coordinating Facility projects that involve nursing/patient care units and support space.

    Meets regularly with Facilities representatives to ensure projects are prioritized and monitored as needed.

    Performs other related work as required or requested.
