    Job Summary:


    Responsible for Grants/Contracts in support of the Research and Education missions of the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (MIE).

    The MIE Dept. is home to 6 degree programs, 2 cost recovery centers, and 2 research centers (CeRoM, TIER).

    When fully staffed, it is supported by 6 office and 8 technical staff members that serve 35 T/TT Faculty, 5 Instructors, 5-7 p/t instructors, multiple Post-docs and Research Associates, ~1300 UG students and ~100 graduate students.

    Research expenditures are in the range $3.5M-$5M annually.


    Job Description:


    90% Independently manages departmental Grants/Contracts accounts, reconciling all accounts on a monthly basis; maintains up-to-date records; communicates with PIs and provides monthly reports and upon request; monitors end dates of grants; process extensions and re-budget requests; reviews, interprets and applies changing of federal grant/contract provisions that govern expenditures of restricted funds; process payroll and non-payroll transfers; process costing allocations; process all effort certifications for the department; cost sharing; process participant account paperwork and coordinates stipend payments for professional workshops; monitors new equipment/repairs for compliance and award close out.

    5% Assist Cost Center Manager (CCM) with service cost-recovery center accounts by reconciling accounts, maintaining account balances, communicate with service center managers, process service center billings and transfer charges, process CARD entries, coordinate annual rate paperwork and rate sheets for budget and planning, provide reports upon request.

    5% Act as a back-up for the office staff with associated cross-training. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:


    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or closely related field; 1 year of related work experience in accounting and/or managing grant accounts.
