    General Information:

    Job title: Financial Counselor

    Schedule: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period; Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

    Weekend rotation: No Weekends

    Holiday rotation: Paid Holidays

    Position Summary:

    The Financial/Billing Counselor position is an advocate for patients. This role finds and helps them get on financial assistance programs. The Finance/Billing Counselor works closely with the Scheduling Department for estimates and payment set up for deposits and is also responsible for self-pay collections and Client billing.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with Scheduling to set up estimates and deposits. Assist patients to navigate Community Care and Marketplace Enrollment or other financial assistance programs.
    • Create, bill, and collect all client bills. Set up and collect audiology accounts. Set up payroll deduction and maintain spreadsheet.
    • Make phone calls regarding any billing issues.
    • Responsible for all incoming calls regarding self-pay or insurance questions.
    • Responsible for weekly statement files, probate, bankruptcy, collection agencies, court for bonded, and lawyer letters. Set up and take credit applications for Care Credit.
    • Responsible for refunds, year-end statements, housing letters, and monthly reporting for bonded and Community Care.
    • Perform other duties as requested.

    Position Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Associates Degree or equivalent business experience preferred.
    • Training in Marketplace and/or collections required.
    • 3+ years of related work experience preferred.
    • Experience working in the medical industry preferred.
    • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Intermediate proficiency with computers is required.
    • Experience with insurance billing preferred.
    • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
