    Pay rate $20.54

    $1000 sign on bonus

    Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: To provide a safe, therapeutic environment for children residing in HGS programs. Relief Overnight Child Care Workers are considered members of the professional team, and role models for all children who reside in the agency. Individuals in child care positions may be required to work irregular hours, including nights, evenings, and weekends.

    Principal Assigned Responsibilities:

    1. Awake overnight supervision of children in accordance with agency policy and procedures as well as any individual Enhanced Supervision Plans.
    2. Maintain a safe, clean and homelike environment for children. This includes competing any household chores as assigned.
    3. Manage all behaviors problems in a manner that reflects the agency's Sanctuary philosophy, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, and agency policy and procedure.
    4. Provide feedback regarding Individualized Crisis Management Plans and individualized treatment plans. Implement these plans as defined by the child's Primary Therapist/treatment team.
    5. Attend and participate in staff meetings and supervision.
    6. Ensure completion of all written documentation as defined by program and agency policy and procedure.
    7. Ensure that all program and agency policies and procedures are followed.
    8. Ensure medication is passed as outlined in agency policy.
    9. Participate in professional development trainings as assigned by supervisor.
    10. Successfully complete all required agency trainings as defined by program and agency policy.
    11. Successfully complete Van Certification training in order to transport children on recreational outings and visitation.
    12. Rotate between units and cover employee vacations or other leave time and perform the duties normally assigned to that employee in that unit.
    13. Assume shift supervisor responsibilities in the absence of the shift supervisor or program supervisor.
    14. Ensure meals and snacks are prepared and served as scheduled.
    15. Other related tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Relationships-Supervision and Coordination: Relief Overnight Child Care Workers are under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Residential and have regular supervision with that individual. Child care Workers must maintain a good working relationship with all program, clinical and support staff associated with the assigned work location. Child care staff are representatives of the program and agency while interfacing with children's families and are expected to maintain positive and professional working relationships with those individuals.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    1. Minimum high school or equivalency diploma required; some higher education preferred.
    2. Experience with children highly desirable; sufficient maturity to work with and relate to children required.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

    1. Commitment to following and embracing the Seven Commitments of our Sanctuary Model.
    2. Ability to form positive relationships with children.
    3. Ability to understand and respond to children's basic developmental needs.
    4. Ability to understand and follow agency policy and Trauma Informed Care orientation.
    5. Ability for role model and teach appropriate behavior to children.
    6. Understanding of basic needs and developmental issues of children in a way that promotes growth and respects individuality.
    7. Asks age and developmentally appropriate questions and actively listens to children's responses.
    8. Develops a warm, positive, nurturing relationship with each child.
    9. Follows mandated reporting requirements regarding child abuse and neglect.
    10. Practices infection control, including appropriate hand washing procedures.
    11. Uses knowledge of developmental milestones, assists children in participating at their individual level of interest and ability.
    12. Uses observation as a way to "get to know" children –their interests and developmental levels
    13. Interacts with children during meal and snack times, promoting appropriate social behavior.
    14. Applies knowledge of child development to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and environments.
    15. Adapts activities and environments to meet the special needs and situations of individual children.
    16. Identifies developmentally appropriate behavior and reasonable expectations for children's behavior.
    17. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times.
    18. Valid New York State driver's license.
