- Provision of direct nursing care to assigned patients in ICU consistent with clinical specialty.
- Facilitate a positive work environment to ensure quality patient care.
- Compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Follow patient safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Attend educational programs, meetings and workshops to improve professional growth.
- Maintain safety and comfort of patients in accordance with hospital standards.
- Suggest improvements to current policies and processes to enhance patient safety initiatives.
- Report and/or mitigate any environmental conditions that may put a patient at risk.
- Ensure compliance with Hospital, Nursing division and departmental policies.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
- Institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse patient developments.
- Deliver safe direct care to assigned group of patients as required.
- Ensure completeness of patient medical records.
- Answer telephones and triage calls according to departmental policy.
- Assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel after completing preceptor training.
- Report incidents of potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner.
- Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they do not understand or may be concerned about.
- Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable.
- Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program.
- At least 1 year of directly related experience.
- Current RN license in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM.
- A valid CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers certification.
- Basic Arrhythmia Certification within 1 year of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
- Significant hazards due to chemicals and bio hazardous materials requiring PPE.
