    Job Summary:

    • Provision of direct nursing care to assigned patients in ICU consistent with clinical specialty.
    • Facilitate a positive work environment to ensure quality patient care.
    • Compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

    Detailed Responsibilities:

    • Follow patient safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
    • Attend educational programs, meetings and workshops to improve professional growth.
    • Maintain safety and comfort of patients in accordance with hospital standards.
    • Suggest improvements to current policies and processes to enhance patient safety initiatives.
    • Report and/or mitigate any environmental conditions that may put a patient at risk.
    • Ensure compliance with Hospital, Nursing division and departmental policies.
    • Develop and implement individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
    • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings.
    • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
    • Institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse patient developments.
    • Deliver safe direct care to assigned group of patients as required.
    • Ensure completeness of patient medical records.
    • Answer telephones and triage calls according to departmental policy.
    • Assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel after completing preceptor training.
    • Report incidents of potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner.
    • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they do not understand or may be concerned about.
    • Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program.
    • At least 1 year of directly related experience.
    • Current RN license in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM.
    • A valid CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers certification.
    • Basic Arrhythmia Certification within 1 year of hire.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months of hire.
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 6 months of hire.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree.

    Physical Demands:

    • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

    Working Conditions:

    • Significant hazards due to chemicals and bio hazardous materials requiring PPE.
