- Reviews images in PAC system.
- Identifies abnormalities.
- Assists Radiologist in interpretation of patient exams.
- Performs imaging procedures as prescribed by a physician including: positions the patients for the proper view of the affected area; selects the appropriate scan images to be transferred to a PACS system.
- Obtains essential information from patient, medical records and previous scans for clinical correlation; instructs patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure; helps patients transfer to exam table and ensures adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan; changes scanning parameters to improve a scan; obtains diagnostic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient; submits diagnostic exam to physician for interpretation.
- Assists in performing life-saving techniques (CPR, first aid) to the patient if necessary.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Handles blood and body fluids and deals with infectious patients.
- Performs patient care tasks as needed.
- High school diploma; graduation from an accredited Radiography school.
- ARRT registered in at least 2 modalities; or registry eligible.
- Current Radiologic Technology License (RTL) in good standing.
- BLS certification
- Minimum one year of experience and/or training
- Skilled in injecting contrast intravenously for imaging procedures.
- Skilled in using computer network system competently to process patient and department information.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in assuming responsibility for safety factors.
- Ability to explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
- Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
- Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
