    BASIC FUNCTION:

    The EC behavior support coordinator will serve as an interventionist - processing student referrals using the Boys Town SCM administrative Intervention program. While utilizing this process interventionists will work closely with BSTs and classroom staff to ensure students are re-regulated before moving into corrective teaching strategies, managing progressive consequences, overseeing the classroom reentry process, documenting referral processing and interventions in the electronic referral log, and ensuring clear prompt communication within the school building regarding interventions/plans as well as with parents/guardians

    The Behavior Support Coordinator serves as the administrator for student discipline for the principal. Under direction of the principal, the Behavior Support Coordinator oversees the discipline plan and activities/programs, which enable students to acquire the social and interpersonal behaviors necessary for academic achievement.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience in developing and implementing effective individual and group discipline and behavior management plans.
    • Excellent oral and written skills, including report-writing ability.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:

    Essential functions
    • Monitor students on probation.
    • Monitor students with criminal records.
    • Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
    • Monitors attendance/discipline for an assigned segment of the student population and follows up in cases of unexcused or excessive absence.
    • Assists with the development of and implements the discipline plan for the school, including implementation of the district Safe School Plan as it pertains to school strategies and procedures.
    • Supervises the activities of the Campus Security Associate, responsible for coordinating school security (scheduling for CSA) and Safe School Audits, and the program as it relates to achievement of the discipline plan.
    • Assists with the supervision and monitoring of student activities such as lunch, class changes, assemblies, concerts, dances and sporting events.
    • Develops and coordinates behavior management programs; assists school administrators in the areas of behavior management, discipline and classroom management.
    • Observes and documents behavior of individual students; maintains accurate logs of student progress.
    • Consults with teachers and parents of students about specific behaviors of students; participates in parent conference as necessary.
    • Provides for student and parent due process in accordance with provisions of federal, state and school system rules and regulations; ensures confidentiality of all student records.
    • Works cooperatively with social services and community agencies in accessing resources for students and their parents.

    Desired
    • Knowledge of and experience implementing the Boys Town Specialized Classroom Management Model, experience working in behavior support classroom or comparable settings in a facility, strong working knowledge of applied behavior analysis strategies and various mental health diagnoses.
