    Description

    Rockhurst University announces the search for its next Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA).

    The VPFA reports directly to the University President and is a key partner in the President's Cabinet, planning and implementing strategy for institutional success and fostering a healthy, vibrant organizational culture.

    Responsible for the administrative and operational aspects of the University, the VPFA oversees all finance and business operations including budget development, modeling and forecasting, and asset management, as well as facilities management, human resources, and information technology.

    The VPFA works closely with the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Trustees.


    The VPFA is expected to lead with a growth mindset that fosters a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and effective risk management.

    Additionally, the VPFA is charged with working collaboratively with the President and the Cabinet to successfully implement the University's strategic plan.

    The successful VPFA candidate brings ten or more years of proven, progressive experience managing financial and administrative operations that includes the cultivation of a bold, nimble, and entrepreneurial culture.

    Roles and Responsibilities:
    Provide executive level vision, leadership, planning and direction for the business affairs of the University.
    Develop long-term cost-effective financing strategies to fund the University programs and services, facilities expansion, operations, and maintenance.

    Analyze operations to evaluate performance of the University and its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of revenue enhancement, cost reduction, program improvement, policy change and effective risk management.

    Direct, plan, or implement policies, objectives, or activities to ensure continuing operations, to maximize returns on investments, and to increase productivity.

    Prepare budgets for approval, including those for funding the implementation of programs.

    Responsible for directing the financial planning, implementation and administration of comprehensive policies and procedures necessary to monitor and maintain the financial sustainability of the University.

    As such, the VPFA regularly reports to the President, the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees on the soundness of financial planning activities, financial conditions affecting the University's financial performance and plans for responding to indications of financial challenges.

    Assist in the administration of a comprehensive facilities plan and information technology plan necessary to determine and meet the University's diverse needs.

    Supervise all business office and related activities, including the controller/accounting functions, human resources, payroll, physical plant, information technology/computer services, student accounts, investment/endowment management, legal, and contractual relationships with third party vendors providing services to the University.


    Qualifications:
    Proven success with strategic financial planning and analysis, budgeting, contract management, and investment/endowment management.
    Personal qualities that exemplify the University's Jesuit character, mission and commitment to excellence.

    An active approach to leadership by example and influence along with a collaborative, team-oriented and highly communicative personal style will be essential skills for this trusted position on the President's Cabinet.

    Prior experience in higher education or experience with higher education clients.


    Specific Requirements Include:


    A minimum of ten years of relevant, increasing levels of experience and responsibility with financial management and leadership in a higher education or similarly complex, professional environment with a proven history of significant accomplishment.

    Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, economics, finance, or related field required. A master's degree and/or related credentials (e.g., CPA) preferred.
    A minimum of ten years supervisory experience leading teams representing multiple functional areas.
    Excellent listening, writing, speaking and analytical skills.
    Integrity and candor.

    Direct experience with high level, multi-year financial modeling, scenario planning and analysis, supporting strategic plans with multiple interdependencies and competing priorities.

    Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic financial planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and adept coordination of financial resources.
