    We are seeking a Research Associate, who has a curious mind and a great desire to learn new techniques in new areas of study to join our interdisciplinary research team. You will be learning experiment design pertaining to surface coating characterization assays, explore optimal surface coating process and support custom surface production needs. The preferred candidate will have scientific research lab experience, demonstrated by any combination of prior curricular, extracurricular undergraduate research lab work, scientific paper, poster, or presentations.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of new surface coating designs that are scalable and robust.
  • Support production of custom surface designs for scientific evaluations
  • Develop custom surface coating protocols/standard operating procedures for tech transfer purposes.
  • Work independently and/or in collaboration with senior scientific staff to execute surface chemistry experiments that involve multiple materials on synthetic substrates.
  • Assist in troubleshooting problems in experiments in terms of assay design, protocol, and reagents.
  • Document research progresses in the form of internal and external publications.

    Education and Experience:
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in chemistry, materials science, biochemistry, bioengineering, physics, or similar fields.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience (undergraduate research experiences are highly preferred)
  • Experience in biomolecule conjugation, surface functionalization and related techniques, experiment design, fluorescence microscopy, data analysis (JMP software) and visualization are a plus.
  • Experience in computer software for scientific purposes is a plus.
  • Ability to produce high quality work with great attention to detail in a fast pace and efficient manner.
  • Basic understanding of NGS technologies.
  • Basic algebraic, statistical, and mathematical skills are required.
  • Creative and independent thinker; excellent communication skills; good team worker; ability to multitask and work independently; and ability to find creative solutions to problems are required.

    Base Compensation Pay Range:
  • $70,000 - $85,000

    In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.

    Please note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
