    The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing activities relating to design, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and systems.This individual is responsible for mechanical system design, test planning, testing and quality assurance.This individual will assist in requirements gathering, planning, cost estimation, preparation, and presentation of proposals for new business.The Mechanical Engineer will maintain contact with customers and identify opportunities for new projects. As with all engineers at BGM-ES, all designs will be reviewed by Senior Engineers and peers through our Quality Assurance Process.

    BGM is a part of Exponential Technology Group (XTG).XTG is part of the TTI Family of Companies and is a specialist in the electronic component distribution and design engineering services industries.This position will report to the Sr. Manager of Engineering.This position will be onsite in Auburn Hills, MI.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Perform state-of-the-art mechanical product development activities, including CAD design capture and interpretation.

    Create technical drawings and documentation.

    Work with senior engineers to learn how to design plastic, sheet metal, and machined enclosures as well as design mechanical parts for electronic based products.

    Implementation of customer specifications and descriptions into practical designs.

    Frequent contact with customer to determine requirements and negotiate design aesthetics.

    Consult with technicians and fabricators to realize designs.

    Interface with tool vendors and negotiate with tooling vendors for creation of production tools.

    Communicate and collaborate frequently with engineers in other disciplines.

    Review designs of other engineers for compliance with company quality standard.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.Minimum of 3 years' experience in the Mechanical Engineering field is preferred.

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    • Experience with SolidWorks
    • Concept realization
    • Hands-on approach to prototyping. Experience with hand tools a great asset.
    • Frequent use of initiative and judgement
    • Experience in Modelling/Meshing
    • Experience in performing Modal analysis
    • Experience for conducting CFD
    • Injection Molding Tool Design experience an asset
    • Strong materials background
    • Worst case tolerance/stack analysis
    • 2D drawing drafting standards, GD&T and Critical characteristic
    • Molding experience an asset
    • Mold flow analysis experience an asset
    • General machine shop experience or knowledge an asset
    • Strong knowledge of basic electronics, PCB manufacturing and electronic components an asset
